Because many African Americans have little or no knowledge of Buddhism, I have created this site to inform them about Nichiren Daishonin Buddhism as taught through the Soka Gakkai International (SGI). SGI is revolutionary in many ways as far as a religious organization goes. First, it has members in 192 countries and territories. Second, it has no priest posing as intermediaries between members and their enlightenment. Third, it is a diverse organization. Every race, color, and sexual orientation is a member of the SGI. I remember at one of my first meetings, I saw a drag queen sitting in the audience. Anyway, Nichiren Buddhism gives people the power to control their own lives for whatever they need to be happy. If a person needs money, health or just peace of mind, chanting will make it happen for you. I have been practicing now for 25 years and have recieved many benefits. I will not relate what my biggest benefit is right now, but eventually I will. I have had many benefits and recieve benefits almost daily. I mean something unexpected or what I need will appear in my life almost daily. I feel so grateful to this practice for making my life what it is. In addition, the power of chanting has helped my family get the things they need in their lives to be happy. It's amazing. I want African Americans to know about this Buddhism. I want then to understand that they have the power within their own lives to be happy. African Americans do not have to do bad things and end up in jail or on welfare to make it in America. We need this Buddhism to truly show our power.
